    Gentlemen,

I own a Beaulieu 4008ZM4 which takes a c-mount lens. I believe "c-mount" means that the lens screws on. If that is the case, my question is will any c-mount lens work on my camera? I've been looking at some lenses on ebay and they seem as though they would fit. If they won't work, does anyone know of a good place to get a fixed focal length c-mount lens to go on my camera?

    thank you,
    tayman strahorn

Pretty much any C-mount lens will work, although you'll probably not want to use Switar RX lenses since they're designed to work with the reflex prism of a reflex Bolex.
Are you looking for a certain prime lens? I think the standard focal length for S8 is 12mm.

12mm would be lovely. I suppose that that would be a "normal" focal length. Where could I find one? Other than pro8mm, of course.

Good question. I don't know if I've ever run across a 12mm prime, but they obviously exist. I have a 10mm and a 15mm angenieux that I use for 16mm filming. I see those on eBay every now and again. You might also pick up that trader mag, In-sync. They have a sample web page.
Do you need a prime lens for something in perticular?

nothing in particular. I have a Schneider-Kreuznach 1.4/6-70mm, but it doesn't offer very good depth of field. everything is in focus. Its not a great concern. I am not an experienced filmmaker who needs to worry of such things. I was just curious.

    Exclamation

there's no difference in dof between different lenses of the same length at the same f-stop.
